​Bedrock Gardens is an emerging public garden that integrates unusual botanical specimens and unique sculptures into an inspiring landscape journey. This 30-acre site is transitioning from a historic farm and private garden to a public oasis of art, horticulture, and inspiration.  Visit a garden the Boston Globe described as "one of the most beautiful and intriguing landscapes in New Hampshire."

Hours
Open Tuesday through Friday, and the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month, from May 17th through October 9, 2023.*  HOURS: Hours are from 10am to 4pm, both weekdays and open weekends.

Accessibility Tours (via Golf Cart)
Docent-led accessibility tours can be pre-arranged via email.  Availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  For family or friends with mobility limitations.  Fee: Admission plus a donation.  One-hour tour with an experienced Docent Guide.  Our Accessibility Cart can hold 4-5 passengers.  Accessibility tours are provided through the ongoing kindness of Katie and Doug Wheeler.

About Blue Bell Greenhouse
Blue Bell Greenhouse is a family-owned business in Lee, NH, in the Portsmouth Seacoast area. After 36 years of running The Blue Bell, owners Amy and Yuda have retired, and former employee Karen Jensen now operates the business.

Blue Bell operates year-round, with retail sales in the Spring and special order cut flowers the rest of the year.

We try to offer a large selection of bedding plants, including some of the more unusual varieties you can find in our "Plant lists." Keep in mind that the lists are subject to change. There may be some last-minute items in the greenhouse that are not included on the list and others of limited quantity that sell out early.  Call ahead to ask about availability, or just come and browse.

We are a livestock and grain farm.  

While we are a livestock farm, we are not a petting farm.  Our animals are being rotated daily around our pastures to receive the best graze, and we use electrified fences to protect them.  Our horses may be working on any day or maybe out to pasture.  We have specific events where we open our barns to view our livestock.  Viewing does not always guarantee to pat.

​If you would like to visit our farm, our farm stand is open for purchasing farm products from 10 am - 5 pm daily.  We ask that the public not wander down our farm lanes now, as the equipment is in operation.  Thank you.

INDOOR - 100‘ x 204’ indoor arena with state-of-the-art Professionally Engineered riding surface (same as used in World Equestrian Games & Olympics), large, and a heated 2nd story viewing room with closed circuit arena TV & sound.

OUTDOOR ARENA - 140‘ x 250’ state-of-the-art arena with surrounding grass & wooded 6-acre Derby-X area, portable XC jumps from Tadpole through Preliminary - Logs, Tables, Coops, Feeders, Corner, Brush, etc., bank with multiple heights, multiple ditches & Trakehner (adjustable to Intermediate), and large Water Complex with three banks & ramps in all directions.

GALLOP TRACK - metered 1km grass track for conditioning & pacing, and professional SAFETFENCE Steeplechase hurdles.

GROUNDS - Lush grass pasture and dirt turnout available, over 100 acres of hay field perfect for hacking around, and 40 acres of woods with maintained trails.

Bakery

Pick Your Own
We have apples, pumpkins, peaches, blueberries (when in season), and Christmas Trees for family pick-your-own fun. You will have a great family adventure with plenty of picture-taking opportunities.

Pumpkins, Gourds, etc.
We have a large selection of pumpkins (many sizes) and unique gourds. They are available in our pumpkin patch for Pick Your Own or in-store for quick selection. Great for baking and decorating during the season. We also have pre-picked pumpkins, gourds, and squash at our store for your convenience.

Apples
We have over 25 varieties of apples for great eating and baking. Apples are available for Pick Your Own or pre-picked at the store. 

Farm Store
Our store is open during the harvest season, five days a week.  It features freshly picked fruit, pumpkins, organically grown produce, fresh pressed DeMeritt Hill Farm apple cider, and a large variety of locally made New Hampshire crafts. Diana’s Bakery is also located at the farm store and sells all types of baked goodies, donuts, and gluten-free products. Applewood, split and dried, can also be bought at the store for burning and smoking purposes.

Hay Rides
The farm can be enjoyed on weekends by taking a hayride. The ride runs all day continuously.  The ride will pick you up at the farm store and let you off where the apples are ready to pick.  When ready, a return trip will bring you back to the store. There is a small fee for the ride, and tickets can be purchased at the farm store.

Echo Ridge Farm is a private family barn with several select, long-term clients. Please email or call to inquire about the status of available stalls.

We reserve a half dozen stalls for clinic stabling, show stabling, and training horses. Our stalls are spacious and have a heated tack room/viewing room. Please contact us for more information and pricing.

Flag Hill sits on a 110-acre conservation easement which preserves the property to remain in agriculture forever. The farm switched from a dairy farm to a vineyard in 1987 with the planting of the first grapes on the property, and the winery began in 1990 with our first harvest.  Years later, in 2004, Flag Hill Distillery began making vodka from the highest quality apples New Hampshire has to offer.

​Today, the farm is owned by Distiller Brian Ferguson and his wife Maddie Ferguson and is used to produce grapes for the winery, grain for the distillery, and vegetables for our events. The grounds genuinely showcase the bounty New Hampshire has to offer.

Hello!  My name is Heather, and I am the owner and baker here at Flour Arts. I am a "retired" Special Education teacher following a dream and learning to make time for myself and my family.  I'm a mom of two boys, 10 and 13, with a sweet tooth and a passion for all things carbs. I grew up baking and cooking beside my parents and have passed the love of good food on to the boys. Baking has been a creative outlet and stress reliever for many years, and five years ago, the Flour Arts concept was born.  

Flour Arts is a licensed homestead bakery in the state of NH. Currently, I am working with a couple of local farms to provide fresh sourdough bread and bagels and make custom treats (cakes, cupcakes, and cookies) to order. There is also a regular local pick-up that I have deemed the Saturday Bread Shop, where items can be ordered and picked up at my home in Lee, NH.

The handcrafting of our goat milk cheese, soap, yo-goat-gurt, and candy is one of careful and continual exploring of ingredient combinations and methods of mixing, curing, and aging our products. All our products are made in small batches with meticulous attention to texture, aroma, consistency, and superb taste or smooth suds.

Live & Learn Early Learning Center of Lee, New Hampshire (NH), is conveniently located for accessibility to all Seacoast families. We are staffed by trained professionals interested in Early Childhood Education. The staff is picked for their dedication to young children and their joy and excitement of the love of learning. Each caring individual is carefully chosen to meet the individual needs of each classroom and brings with them a special gift to share as we all Live and Learn together.

In 1974, Live & Learn started as a dream to enable children to experience an alternative early learning center environment. It began as a Summer based program, and, in June of 1978, Live & Learn became a year-round program that services the community needs with a multi-program approach. Over the years, the school has developed into a center-based program on a functional 35-acre farm.

Each program at Live & Learn is based on experiential education, which allows children to explore their environment using a "hands-on" approach. We enable children to experience several developmentally appropriate activities, both in and out of the classroom. Each program is staffed to meet the particular needs of the classroom. The staff and the director continually improve their education and understanding of young children through courses, seminars, and lectures within the field.

Live & Learn is accredited by the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC), which holds the highest standards of quality for early learning centers in the nation. Lead teachers are provided membership of NAEYC and the state chapter of NHAEYC. NHAEYC promotes quality early childhood education for the children of NH by supporting the Early Childhood Profession.

Three River Farmers Alliance facilitates the aggregation, storage, and transportation of regionally produced food products on behalf of our producer partners. We actively coordinate these activities, providing more comprehensive access to institutional and retail markets for local producers while increasing access to fresh, healthy food for consumers, including underserved areas.

As an aggregate food hub, produce and products ordered by customers are delivered to our warehouse facility after purchase by customers to be then packed for delivery. We do not maintain a rolling inventory of local products to be pulled from. Exact counts of each locally purchased item are delivered to our warehouse by the farms and producers based on customer orders. This ensures you receive the freshest produce directly from the source.

Tuckaway Farm is a three-generation certified organic family farm "tucked away" along the Oyster River.  We have asparagus, berries, rhubarb, greens, potatoes, tomatoes, greens, eggs, lamb, and cornmeal.

The Organic Dairy Research Farm is operated by the NH Agricultural Experiment Station and College of Life Sciences and Agriculture and represents the first at a land-grant university. It is intended to help the University of New Hampshire explore opportunities for regional dairy producers through research.

The farm is home to about 100 registered Jersey cows, heifers, and calves and is located in Lee, about seven miles from the university’s main campus in Durham. The property consists of 275 acres, of which roughly 120 are woodlands, 100 are crops or forage production, and 55 are pastures. In addition to the working land base, the current operation includes a milking Jersey herd twice a day, a step-up four-stall milking parlor, animal, equipment, and storage barns, an intensive rotational grazing system, numerous wells for water sampling, manure composting wind rows, staff offices, and sample processing space. Cows produce an average of 43 pounds of milk daily with 5.1 percent butterfat and 3.6 percent protein.

The farm is managed as an integrated agroecosystem including biological, physical, and human-related components; as such, it offers a platform for research and education across many disciplines. Research priorities are relevant to both organic and conventional farm operations. A primary focus of the farm is to undertake research of relevance to organic farm systems to serve better the organic farming community, consumers, and the environment. Areas of study include dairy nutrition and feeds, pasture quality, forage production, compost production, and management of the associated streams, soils, woodlands, and other natural resources. Faculty scientists and farm staff work cooperatively to undertake these activities while complying with organic certification practices.  The farm is a popular destination for visitors and local K-12 school field trips.

William Kuegel is a farrier and metalsmith who brings his artistic sense to both pursuits. He began his work as a metalsmith making horseshoes. Lynn's background is in design and business. They share a love of all things equine. In 1977, William and Lynn used horseshoe nails to create holiday ornaments. Their body of work now includes jewelry, ornaments, and small and large-scale sculptural work using a variety of metals. One of their designs – Sterling the Snowman – was the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s Annual Ornament in 2000. Several large sculptures – a garden dragon, dancers, and a girl reading – have graced the Sculpture Garden at the League of NH Craftsmen Fair.
